Mutemwa Lodge

This particular stretch of the Zambezi river is totally wild and uninhabited, offering outstanding views of rainforests, dense bush a vast variety of both fauna and flora. Birding is optimum and there is an incredible array of bird life along the river and in the dense forests surrounding Mutemwa Lodge (Mutemwa means dense forest in the local dialect / Lozi) Fly fishing for Tiger fish on the Zambezi is at its best from August to November as the water temperature is higher and the river is at its lowest ebb .The rest of the year is also very productive and large Tiger fish can be caught using flies, lures or drifting bait whatever the season.

Mutemwa is an exceptionally well-run lodge with the tented camp and other facilities situated along the banks of the Zambezi river. Meals are served on a deck over the river or in the boma around a huge log fire. The food is exceptional and is prepared by the local chefs whom have been serving meals at Mutemwa for the past eight years. The lodge also boasts a booze cruise boat (huge flat decked pontoon boat with bar) that will take you out on the river to have a sundowner while drifting past hippo, crocodile and various wildlife along the bank.
