Manyera Lodge

This has got to be one of the more remote wilderness’s left on the African continent.

Duma Camp is situated on the banks of the Mnyera River in Central Tanzania in a diverse private hunting concession. Having had no fishing pressure from recreational or local commercial fishermen this stretch of wilderness offers the sport fisherman an unparalleled experience.

The river is teeming with large tigerfish with numerous fish of between 12 and 20 lbs being caught with fish of 20 to 28 lbs not at all uncommon.

The concession is only operated for three months from August to late October with the river being too high and muddy during the remaining months of the year.

The camp is rustic with en-suite tented chalets for accommodation and a locally built reed dining and bar area. Although basic, the camp is adequate and lends to the rustic charm of the Mnyera Valley and the enchanting wilderness.

Trips are only made up of four guests who fish from two hunting boats built for these conditions and guided by very experienced guides who run the operation.

Each trip is over a seven day period with six full days fishing the Mnyera and other nearby rivers.

The Tanzania experience must be one of the more challenging and unforgettable fresh water fishing experiences on the African sub-continent.
